Setafuge Hazard Reduction System – 90010-0
The use of a centrifuge in conjunction with volatile samples or samples with added solvents, at elevated temperatures, can result in the production of vapours which may be hazardous (flammable and/or toxic). In general the vapour pressure of hydrocarbons at 60 °C is approximately double that at 40 °C.
The Setafuge significantly reduces the hazards associated with vapours and gases released from samples at elevated temperatures.
More Information
- Vapour extraction and dilution
- Reduced chamber pressure to prevent vapour seepage
- Safety interlock
Vapours are extracted from near the top of the chamber, diluted with air, and discharged safely, via a tube, to a non-hazardous area. By maintaining the chamber at slightly below atmospheric pressure, escape of vapour into the laboratory environment is prevented.
A vacuum switch continuously monitors the vacuum inside the chamber and the unit interfaces with the centrifuge interlock to ensure that safe procedures are always followed. The Setafuge unit is quickly fitted to the centrifuge and connected to an external compressed air supply.
Note: Requires an external compressed air supply.
